Project Neila
A 7-week cross-disciplinary game project at Futuregames. My part in it was animating the enemies. Since all enemies are slimes controlling mechs, I have been looking to create a robotic and humoristic, yet intimidating feel.
Enemy animations in game. This project was built in Unreal.
ALIEN SCIENTIST
Idle emote
I wanted to add a humoristic, alive, flare to the main enemy of the game. It is a scientist working hard to achieve results, therefor it has no patience for your pausing gaming for even a second.
This emote animation plays as part of the idle animation.
ALIEN SCIENTIST
Ground slam attack
The scientist slams the ground in front of itself, making the player take damage and fly away from the impact.
ALIEN SCIENTIST
Stunned
Alien scientist being stunned from a player attack.
The hit was hard enough to do damage, but not hard enough the defeat it. It will be dizzy for a while though.
ALIEN SCIENTIST
Walk
The scientist is very big and heavy, it takes it a while to get into and out of its steps. Since it is a slimeball controlling a mech, it is not used to humanoid movements, so it is a bit stiff.
SPIDER ENEMY
Idle
The spider acts on orders from the alien scientists and proximity of the player. I wanted to give it a humoristic idle, letting it be confused when no orders are given and no action taken by the player.
SPIDER ENEMY
Walk
The spider is a fast walker. It comes sprinting at you faster than you want it to.
SPIDER ENEMY
Walk up walls transition
The spider can walk from the floor up to the walls and ceiling and back down again. I wanted it to have a smooth transition to be extra creepy and spider-like.
SPIDER ENEMY
Fallen over
The spider can fall if it tries to climb to steep corners or around ledges. It then falls on its back and struggles to get up. My inspiration for this was bugs.
This project was animated in Maya and built in Unreal.
